FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (March 15, 2024) – The Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program will host its inaugural Drone Expo, Friday, March 22 at 8:30 a.m. Live drone demonstrations, static displays, and information about the university’s UAS program will be available at the event.
One aim for expo organizers is to increase awareness of the technologies and applications of a UAS for small businesses, law enforcement agencies, local and state government officials, community colleges, schools, and the public. The event will provide an opportunity for middle and high school students who’re interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields and careers, to learn about their options.
“This event is another opportunity to involve the community and open ourselves up to inquiries about our programming and the wealth of this industry,” said Kuldeep Rawat, ECSU dean of the School of Science, Aviation, Health and Technology.
The event is open to the public, however, advanced registration is required to attend. Attendees will gather at the K.E. White Graduate Center for presentations from guest speakers, followed by demonstrations at the university’s state-of-the-art Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Pavilion to further interact and engage with experts in the field.
The site, adjacent to the university, is the only one of its kind in the state and allows for opportunities in UAS education, research, and training. It also supports careers for individuals interested in a diverse range of occupations from public safety, disaster response and homeland security to healthcare and agriculture.
Event registration is available here.
